Thanks to the generosity
of Bill Koch the Museum of Yachting's S&S regatta
was sponsored by the Oxbow Corporation. Conditions were
light all weekend with a high wind speed of only 8
knots. In the Classic Division Columbia sailed alone
posting a perfect score and underlining the availability
of racing 12 Meter charters.
The modern division was a showcase for new rudders and
winter's work. The first race went to Freedom showing
the success of her new rudder, followed by Intrepid.
.
In the end Courageous was able to shake off the winters rust and
show her form with four straight bullets for first over all.In
the final near-drifter all the boats sweated for 2 knots of
speed and passed the Grand Prix class by 3 minutes. Courageous
was fortunate to have Gary Jobsen aboard as an advisor in the
after guard. This was his first time back to the boat since 2003
Baltimore/Annapolis events. All aboard were happy to witness
Gary's recovery and see him sailing again.
The Brazilian KZ-3 team was welcomed to the fleet and has been
initiated by being the 9th boat in the class to find 12 Meter
Rock also known as The Sisters off of the War College. No damage
was done to the boat and only minor scratches to the egos and
reputations. Nothing a little time at the Candy Store couldn't
fix. Please see the Museum of Yachting's web site for complete
results.
